Preschool and Kindergarten Spanish is a Snap with New Spanish Champs Curriculum

Spanish Champs Song Tengo un Amigo

Progressive Language Inc’s Spanish Champs preschool and kindergarten Spanish curriculum helps young children sing, play and dance their way to Spanish comprehension. Spanish Champs songs and videos are already used by hundreds of schools and families, and now a complete curriculum is available. In addition to the Song CD and Video DVD released several years ago, the new curriculum adds: a Karaoke CD, an Illustrated Activity and Song Book, a Storybook, a Coloring and Activity Book, and a Teacher’s Guide and Resource CD. Preview the preschool Spanish curriculum online. Progressive Language has been teaching Spanish classes to children for over 5 years now, but the curriculum wasn’t available to the general public until now. “We have taken all our teaching experience, stories and activities and incorporated them into the new resources.” said Tim Keller, president of Progressive Language.

There is a golden opportunity for young children to learn Spanish in preschool and kindergarten, but most schools and families don’t have the resources or experience to teach Spanish. The Spanish Champs Preschool and Kindergarten Spanish Curriculum can be taught by teachers or parents with little or no Spanish experience because it relies on song CDs and video DVDs. “Even if a teacher or parent has minimal exposure to Spanish, they will be able to effectively use the program because they will learn right along side the children” said Keller.

Dolores Jenson taught 300 children at different Montessori schools using Spanish Champs resources. Dolores said “because Spanish Champs is based in song and motion, the children respond and learn quickly. The repetition helps the student retain the material and the motions reinforce the concepts”. Dolores continued, “I love the Song Book, I think that the illustrations are very colorful and effective. The Story Book makes a very nice supplement to the program, reinforcing vocabulary and concepts in a form that is engaging for children.”

The Spanish Champs preschool Spanish program has received excellent feedback. “This is a great program… very professional… extremely comprehensive… everyone at our school loves it.” wrote Teri Meyerstein from SpringStone Montessori Preschool.

The curriculum is a 32-week program that includes everything needed for a dynamic and effective Spanish program, but the cornerstone is learning Spanish through singing. The Level 1 program includes 23 songs that teach specific Spanish skills and all the other resources reinforce what is introduced through the songs. The program can be repeated two or three times and with each pass children expand their comprehension and ability to use fundamental Spanish. The Spanish Champs curriculum is used as both a beginning and an intermediate program. “In the first pass through, we use less than half the songs, in the subsequent passes through, the original songs are reinforced and then new songs are added” said Keller. “We start two year olds singing songs, and with the three to six year olds, we incorporate a number of other engaging activities and video that are age appropriate.”
