What Preschool schedule is the best preparation for Kindergarten?

Question by Mom Club: What Preschool schedule is the best preparation for Kindergarten?
My son has always done some form of day care or preschool. He is currently doing afternoon preschool 3x/week and will do preschool again next year, then start Kindergarten in the Fall of 2012. Should I move him to a 4x/week schedule? Should I do am’s instead of pm’s? What will better prepare him for a full day Kindergarten schedule?

Do 4 days a week, for sure. It doesn’t matter so much if he does AM or PM, just do whichever works best for him, or you, or whatever the school has open.

The four days in a row gets him in the rhythm of going to school several times a week, which can be tiring. Another thing children learn when they go to school several days in a row is the continuity of the curriculum- the teacher can build on what was learned earlier in the week, or even what was done the day before. This will help students gain confidence and feel like they are really learning and growing up.
