Posting out the allocation letters informing elders of the result of their child’s application to college are one of the most nerve-wrangling periods for a parent. The letters are sometimes sent out by top class post in March for Secondary faculties and Apr for child, junior or primary faculties. Many councils in the United Kingdom also allow folks to apply on the Internet. Elders who applied online can view the result of their child’s application to college thru their local councils web site.

For voluntary aided, foundation and trust colleges parents should contact the school direct for list positions. Elders can contact their local council’s Education/Colleges and Childcare Service to discover about lists for these types of school.

How to sign up for a place in school

Applying for a reception place

Your youngster should be in a position to start college in the September following their 4th birthday. You can make an application for a place at an infant school (4-7 years), or a primary school (4-11 years). Please contact your local council or local college and read their schools acknowledgments policy and before applying for a place in a school for your kid. This stage is commonly known as Key Stage 1 or KS1 for short.

Transfer to KS2 junior school (year 3)- If your child is in their final year of child college, you must apply for a place in year 3 typically between September and mid Jan of the school year before your child is due to transfer to junior school. Please contact your local council or local college and read their colleges acknowledgments policy and before trying for a place in a school for your child.

Move to KS3 secondary school (year 7)- If your child is in their final year of junior school you must sign up for a place in year 7 between Sep and the end of October of the year before your child is due to move to secondary school.

Applying for a place in any other year group -You can speak directly to local faculties to establish whether there is a vacancy in your child’s year group and complete an In-year application form. Search for schools in your area

If you child is in nursery college it is not guranteed that there will be a place for them in first or infant school. This process in the Uk is a complex process carried out by individual colleges and local authories. The standards changes from local council to local council and even school to college. You need to have a place for your youngster so they are in school for their fifth birthday.Usually the local school nearest to your house is the college your child will attend, however there are different rules that woulod change this.

Applying for a nursery school (pre school) place

Talk to other folks to discover a good pre-school or nursery. Also look online to find what colleges are available for you. Pre-school is usually a paid service were as nursery is a free service ftom the local authority and is mostly a great start for your child as they start education at a child or primary school. As a parent, you can make a big difference to your child’s pre-eminence in school at home aalso in their later life.
